This mahogany Maori Patu is a beautiful piece to add to your collection, or to give as a trophy or birthday gift.

The patu is hand carved, and measures approximately 29cm (11 1/2') long. As it is handcarved, expect the odd minor imperfection, which just adds to its charm.

This Carved Wooden Maori Patu Club is an example of the traditional Maori patu, used mostly in pre-European times, since it became somewhat obsolete after the arrival of the Europeans and their guns.

The patu was traditionally made out of wood or stone, and if made from greenstone was more commonly called a mere.

The patu has a cord, for it to be hung from the wrist.

Purchase the patu on its own, or with a South Island pine stand. The stand measures approximately 34.5cm (13 1/2') long.

The stand can also be engraved. Choose from the following options:

1) Gold engraved plaque on front of stand. Choose up to 8 words.

2) Engraving into the wood, front edge of stand. Choose up to 5 words.

3) Paua engraving into the wood, top of stand. Choose up to 18 characters, CAPITALS only.

Choose your engraving option, and then a box will open up, where you enter the wording you require. Please note that engraved items cannot be returned, except for the unlikely event that we get the engraving wrong. Allow approximately 3 days for engraving to be done.
